Boojum Mexican Lunch Offer

boojum-offerThere’s a new Mexican cafe in Dublin’s Italian Quarter (that pleasant little row of restaurants and shops that runs between the Millennium Bridge and the Jervis St Luas stop).  It’s called Boojum, and they are currently offering a lunch special – any main menu item plus a bottle of water for €7.  When I first saw it, I thought it was a bit underwhelming – water should be free in restaurants anyway, and those small bottles of water are so wasteful.  But I eventually gave in and tried it, because I really like Mexican food, and saw that you could get fizzy water with the deal.  I LOVE fizzy water and occasionally shamefully put aside my environmental conscience to buy it.

Anyway, I had a steak burrito and can happily report that they are really good.  They’re assembled on the spot and you’re given a choice of fillings and fixings.  As well as steak, you can have chicken, veggie, or shredded beef. There’s  a choice of black beans or pinto beans and three different varieties of salsa.  Sour cream and cheese are included in the price, but jalapenos or guacamole are a little extra.  My burrito was really tasty, the steak was tender and the salsa had a good kick.  You can also get tacos or fajitas as part of the offer.  Each table has an interesting array of little bottles of hot sauce, and there’s space to sit outside if it’s a nice day.  Recommended.
