A big, big thank you to everyone who helped out with our Cake Sale and everyone who came along to buy cake. We had a delightful afternoon, there was SO MUCH delicious cake, and we raised over €300 for Barnardos and their crucial work with vulnerable children in Ireland.
Some of the things we got included (deep breath): vanilla cupcakes, Anzac biscuits, rocky road bars, tea bracks, biscotti, apple pies, raspberry jam cake bars, 60% chocolate brownies, orange and almond cake, cherry chocolate spelt brownies, chocolate mocha porter cake, carrot cake, adorable gingerbread men, lemon slices, chocolate sable biscuits, M&M cookies, chocolate cupcakes, and much more. We filled two large tables with the treats and got such a great response from the customers.
Special thanks to:
- All the generous home cooks, food bloggers (including Runcible Spoon, Sausage and Peppers and Sally Dunne) and a cafe (UrBun in Cabinteely) who donated such beautiful baking. Contributors were generous above and beyond what we had expected, and everything looked and tasted gorgeous.
- Emma, organiser of the Hapenny Flea, for setting us up with a free stall and the staff of the Grand Social for being so helpful and supportive. The other stall holders at the Flea Market were fantastic as well and came up to chat and buy cake.
- Odlums for generously donating a hamper of baking ingredients and goods for us to raffle off.
- Dublin Food Sales for giving us free delivery on the equipment that we needed for the event (paper bags, plates, etc)
Prize Winners
We had two prizes to raffle off on the day – the Odlums hamper and a very cute and cuddly Barnardos teddy bear. The winner of the teddy was Tilly, and we’ve already been in contact with her mum to let her know. The winner of the hamper is Sarah Pritchard – Sarah, please email us on info@cheapeats.ie so we can get your details and arrange for delivery of the hamper.
Thanks again everyone!
