At the risk of damaging all that wonderful credibility I like to think I’ve built up with my many (two?) reviews I would now like to draw the attention of all cheapeats readers to the wonder that is ‘Kraft dinner’. I discovered this when I lived in Canada and I’ve been lamenting it’s absence from my life for years since I returned to discover that, rather incredibly, it has never made it across the pond, where I don’t doubt it would find instant fame (or infamy, I’m not really sure). So, I’m starting a campaign to have Kraft dinner stocked in all Irish supermarkets from here on in.
Let me convince you to join me.
Kraft dinner is basically the macaroni cheese version of instant noodles only slightly fancier because it requires the addition of milk and butter (which I like to think adds a certain amount of healthiness to it). Now Peter will tell you that this is a vile concoction which insults the pot it’s cooking in by it’s very existence.. but let me tell you that he is wrong. Yes, it’s unnaturally luminous, but who isn’t these days? Yes, cheese that comes from a powder leaves a certain sense of unease, but life is all about excitement and the unknown. Yes, I just ate a little more than half this evening and feel like it may have stripped me of any nutrients my body had earlier in the day, and that I have been able to visibly watch my stomach expand beyond the waist of my jeans (in an ever so attractive manner), and I think I may be getting a mild headache from the luminosity of the cheese powder and… and… where was I going with this? Oh yes, BUT, the point is, glutton for punishment that I am, I still want more. So I say bring on Kraft dinner, why should I know this pleasure (and suffering) alone, spread the love!
In case you’re wondering, a friend of mine from Canada brought me over a couple of boxes the last time she was visiting..I still can’t figure out if she loves me or hates me.
(For all those who aren’t convinced by my written campaign, I’ve attached a photo of my delicious leftovers. Yum!)
